What's included

What's included in a bathroom clean

The bathroom is the room people judge a clean by, and the room where doing things in the wrong order wastes the most time. Here is exactly what a cleaner does in yours, what is deep-clean work rather than routine work, and how long it honestly takes.

How a bathroom is actually cleaned

A bathroom is cleaned top down and wet-to-dry, and the order is not arbitrary. Product goes onto the shower and the toilet first so it has time to work while the cleaner does the basin, the mirror and the tiles. Coming back to scrub a shower that has been soaking for six minutes takes half the effort of scrubbing it dry. Floors are last, because everything above them sheds.

Two things drive how long a bathroom takes: how much soap scum has built up on the screen, and whether the room has ventilation. A screen cleaned fortnightly wipes down in a couple of minutes. The same screen left for three months has a mineral film that needs a dedicated product and mechanical work, and that is a deep-clean line item rather than something absorbed into a routine visit.

Grout is the other honest conversation. Routine cleaning keeps grout from getting worse and lifts surface staining. Grout that has gone dark over years does not come back with a spray bottle — that is a restoration job, and we would rather say so than take your money and produce a marginal improvement.

Cleaner scrubbing a shower recess during a bathroom clean

Soap scum removed, not polished flat

Product is left to dwell on the screen and the recess before anything is scrubbed. That is what breaks the film down — wiping a dry screen just buffs it, and it returns within a week.

Products matched to the surface

Acidic descalers go nowhere near a stone vanity top, and bleach is used only where it is right for the material. If you want fragrance-free, or your own products used instead, leave them out and say so.

Kept ahead of the build-up

A bathroom on a fortnightly cycle takes 20 to 30 minutes. The same room left for three months needs an hour, and glass already etched by hard water may never come fully clear.

Standard scope

Included in every bathroom clean

These tasks are done on every visit as part of the standard rate. They are not add-ons and they are not dropped when the visit runs long.

  • Shower recess, screen and tiles. Soap scum and body oils removed from the glass, the frame and the surrounding tiles, then the screen dried so it does not spot as it dries. The recess is rinsed rather than left with product sitting in it.

  • Grout lines and silicone. Grout worked where build-up is visible and silicone seals wiped down. Surface staining lifts; grout that has discoloured over years needs restoration, which we will tell you rather than quietly skip.

  • Toilet, inside and out. Bowl cleaned under the rim as well as in it, then the seat, lid, hinges, cistern, the outside of the pan, the base and the floor immediately behind it. Behind the pan is where most bathroom smell actually comes from.

  • Basin, vanity and tapware. Basin scrubbed, the drain and overflow cleared of build-up, taps descaled and polished, and the vanity top and cupboard fronts wiped down.

  • Mirror and glass. Mirror cleaned and finished streak-free rather than smeared, including the edges and the area behind the tap where spray collects.

  • Bath. Bath scrubbed inside, the rim and surround wiped, and the tap and waste cleared of soap residue.

  • Towel rails, hooks and handles. Rails, hooks, door handles and light switches wiped and sanitised, because these are the surfaces every person in the house touches with wet hands.

  • Exhaust fan face and skirting. The exhaust fan cover wiped down, cobwebs taken from the corners, and skirting boards spot-wiped where they are marked.

  • Bin and floor. Bin emptied and relined, then the floor vacuumed to lift hair before it is mopped — mopping over loose hair just moves it around. Floors are left as dry as possible.

Add-ons

Deep-clean work, quoted separately

Real work that takes real time. It is priced on its own rather than folded into an hourly rate and then skipped when the clock runs out.

  • Grout restoration. Deep treatment of discoloured grout across a whole bathroom. Quoted per room, because the result depends entirely on the grout's condition and age.

  • Hard-water and mineral removal. Dedicated treatment for screens and tapware with heavy mineral build-up, which does not come off with routine cleaning product.

  • Inside the vanity cupboards. Cupboards emptied, wiped out and restocked. Part of a deep clean or an end-of-lease clean rather than a routine visit.

  • Exhaust fan cover removal. Cover taken down, washed and refitted rather than just wiped in place. Available on request where the fitting allows it safely.

Not something we take on

  • Mould remediation — surface mould is cleaned, but mould growing through plaster or silicone is a building issue
  • Unblocking drains or any plumbing work
  • Regrouting, resealing or replacing silicone
  • Cleaning inside a cistern
  • Moving a washing machine or vanity unit to clean behind it
  • Removing paint, rust stains or damage to the surface itself

How long it takes

One bathroom, part of a routine visit
20–30 minutes
One bathroom, first visit or neglected
45–60 minutes
Bathroom and ensuite, routine
40–55 minutes
Bathroom as part of a deep clean
60–90 minutes

What helps before we arrive

  • Clear the vanity and the shower shelf of bottles so the surfaces underneath can actually be cleaned.
  • Take towels and bath mats off the rails and out of the room if you want the floor and rails done properly.
  • Say if a surface needs a particular product — stone vanity tops and some tapware finishes mark permanently with the wrong one.
  • Point out anything already damaged, so nobody wonders later whether the cleaner did it.

How to book it

Three ways to have your bathroom cleaned

Same scope, same cleaner, same standard. What changes is how often, and what a visit is allowed to reach.

One-off deep clean

For a bathroom left too long, or a renovation to clean up after. Grout treatment and inside the vanity are included rather than quoted on top.

See what a deep clean covers

Weekly or fortnightly

The screen never gets the chance to build a film, which is the difference between a 25-minute bathroom and an hour-long one.

See the regular clean

Occasional reset

A reset before guests, an inspection or a long weekend, at the same flat rate and with nothing ongoing to cancel.

Check the flat rate

Want a specific problem prioritised — a screen that has gone cloudy, a grout line, a floor edge that never comes up? Say so in the booking notes and the visit is built around it rather than run to a generic order.

What you get either way

  • $20M public liability

Carried on every clean, residential and commercial. Certificates of currency are available on request for building and strata managers.

  • Vetted and interviewed in person

Every cleaner is interviewed face to face before they are put on a run, not signed up through an app.

  • The price before you book

A whole-home clean is a flat rate from your bedroom and bathroom count, shown on the pricing page. No call-back needed to see a number.

  • Free re-clean if it is not right

Tell us within 48 hours which areas fell short and we return and redo them at no charge, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

  • The same cleaner, and no lock-in

You keep your cleaner wherever availability allows. Recurring bookings run visit to visit — skip, change frequency or stop with reasonable notice.

  • A two-hour arrival window

Your cleaner confirms by SMS and email the day before with their name and your window, then again when they are on the way.

Questions

Bathrooms: what we get asked

The questions people ask on the phone before booking, answered here so they do not have to.

Do you clean the grout in the shower?+

Yes, as part of the standard clean — grout lines are worked wherever build-up is visible. What routine cleaning will not do is reverse grout that has discoloured over years. That needs a grout restoration treatment, which we quote separately and will only recommend if it will actually help.

Will you clean behind and around the toilet?+

Yes. The base of the pan, the floor behind it and the wall immediately behind are done every visit. It is the most commonly skipped part of a bathroom and the most common source of lingering smell.

Can you get rid of the mould in my bathroom?+

Surface mould on tiles, grout and silicone is cleaned as part of a standard visit. Mould growing through the plaster or under the silicone is a ventilation or waterproofing problem — we will tell you that rather than paint over it with a clean.

Do you use bleach?+

Only where it is the right product for the surface, and never on anything it will damage. If you would rather we did not use it at all, say so in the booking notes or leave out the products you prefer.

How long should a bathroom take?+

Twenty to thirty minutes for a bathroom on a fortnightly cycle. Closer to an hour on a first visit or where a screen has months of build-up on it, because the work is genuinely different.

Do you clean inside the vanity cupboards?+

Not on a routine visit — the fronts are wiped, the insides are left alone. Inside cupboards is deep-clean and end-of-lease work, and it can be added if you ask for it.

Will the shower screen come up completely clear?+

On a maintained screen, yes. On glass that has been etched by years of hard water, no product will fully restore it, and any cleaner who promises otherwise is guessing. We will tell you which one you have on the first visit.
