Deep clean

A top-to-bottom scrub of the whole home — inside the oven, skirting boards, behind furniture, the lot. Great as a reset.

Cleaner detailing mineral build-up along the track of a glass shower screen

A deep clean is a reset, not a tidy. Your cleaner works methodically through the whole home and gets to the places a weekly visit never reaches: inside the oven, behind and under the appliances that can be safely moved, window and door tracks, skirting boards, tile grout, extractor fans and the tops of doors and cupboards.

It takes roughly twice as long as a regular clean of the same house, because most of the time goes on build-up rather than surface dirt. Baked-on oven carbon, shower-screen mineral scale and grease film above the cooktop all need dwell time with the right product — there is no way to rush that without leaving it behind.

Booking a deep clean first, then a fortnightly regular clean afterwards, is the cheapest way to keep a home genuinely clean over a year. It moves the baseline once, and the ongoing visits hold it there.

Scope

What's included in a deep clean

This is the checklist your cleaner works to. Anything outside it can be added when you book — just say so in the notes.

What is included, room by room
AreaWhat the cleaner does
Kitchen
  • Inside the oven degreased, including racks, trays and the inner glass
  • Range hood filters degreased; hood interior wiped
  • Cooktop, knobs and splashback fully descaled and degreased
  • Inside and on top of cupboards and the pantry wiped out (empty shelves)
  • Behind and under the fridge, oven and dishwasher where they can be safely moved
  • Sink descaled, drain flushed, tapware polished
Bathrooms
  • Shower screen treated for mineral scale and soap build-up
  • Tile grout scrubbed; mould treated where the surface allows
  • Exhaust fan cover removed, washed and refitted
  • Toilet cistern, hinges, base and behind-pan area cleaned
  • Vanity emptied and wiped inside on request
  • Floor edges and corner grout detailed
Bedrooms & living
  • Skirting boards, architraves and door frames washed
  • Tops of doors, cupboards, picture frames and ceiling fans dusted
  • Interior windows, sills and both window and sliding-door tracks cleaned
  • Light switches and power points sanitised
  • Under beds and moveable furniture vacuumed
  • Air-conditioner face and vent covers wiped
Throughout
  • Cobwebs removed from all cornices and ceiling corners
  • Hard floors vacuumed, then mopped with edges detailed by hand
  • Carpets vacuumed slowly, including edges and under furniture
  • Bins washed out rather than just emptied

The boundary

What's not included

We would rather be clear up front than have you disappointed on the day. These items sit outside the standard scope.

Included as standard

  • Inside the oven degreased, including racks, trays and the inner glass
  • Range hood filters degreased; hood interior wiped
  • Cooktop, knobs and splashback fully descaled and degreased
  • Inside and on top of cupboards and the pantry wiped out (empty shelves)
  • Behind and under the fridge, oven and dishwasher where they can be safely moved
  • Sink descaled, drain flushed, tapware polished
  • Shower screen treated for mineral scale and soap build-up
  • Tile grout scrubbed; mould treated where the surface allows

Not included (ask us to add it)

  • Carpet steam cleaning (available as a separate add-on)
  • Exterior windows above ground level
  • Wall washing beyond spot-cleaning marks
  • Moving heavy furniture — anything two people cannot safely shift
  • Mould remediation where the damage is structural, not surface
  • Pest control, gutters and roof work

Time & cost

How long it takes and what moves the price

Cleans are billed by the hour, so the honest answer to 'what will it cost' is 'it depends how long it takes'. Here is what that depends on.

Typical duration

1-bed apartment
4 hours
2-bed, 1-bath
5 hours
3-bed, 2-bath house
6–7 hours
4-bed, 2-bath house
8 hours or a two-cleaner team

What moves the price

  • Size of the home and, above all, the number of bathrooms.
  • How long since the last deep clean. Two years of oven build-up is not the same job as six months.
  • Whether cupboards and the pantry are emptied before the visit.
  • Hard-water areas — mineral scale on screens and tapware adds real time.
  • Add-ons: carpet steam clean, interior wall wash, inside the fridge.

How to prepare

  • Pick up clothes, toys and paperwork so the cleaner spends their time cleaning, not tidying.
  • Put away anything valuable or fragile you would rather nobody handled.
  • Secure pets in one room or outside, and tell us in the booking notes that they are there.
  • Leave clear parking or let us know the access arrangements — a locked gate can cost 15 minutes.
  • Empty the pantry and any cupboards you want cleaned inside — we will not move food.
  • Run the oven cold. A warm oven cannot be treated safely.

Who books this

  • Moving into a new home before the furniture arrives
  • The first professional clean of a house that has never had one
  • Post-renovation dust, or after tradespeople have finished
  • Before hosting, before a new baby, or after a long illness in the house

Questions

Deep clean FAQs

The questions customers ask most before booking this service.

How is a deep clean different from an end-of-lease clean?+

The work overlaps heavily, but an end-of-lease clean is measured against your agent's exit checklist and your entry condition report, and it comes with our re-clean guarantee. A deep clean is measured against your own standard. If you are vacating, always book end of lease.

Do I need a deep clean or will a regular clean do?+

If the surfaces look fine but the oven, tracks, grout and skirting boards have not been touched in six months or more, you need a deep clean. A regular clean does not have the hours to reach them.

Will you move the fridge and the oven?+

Where they are on castors or sliders and can be moved safely by one person, yes. We will not drag appliances across floors that could scratch, and we will not disconnect anything plumbed or hard-wired.

Can mould be removed permanently?+

Surface mould on tile, grout and silicone can be treated and will usually come back clean. If it has penetrated the silicone or the plasterboard behind it, cleaning only masks it — that needs a resilicone or a trade repair, and your cleaner will tell you if that is what they find.

How often should a home be deep cleaned?+

Once or twice a year for most households, if a regular clean is running in between. Homes with pets, gas cooking or hard water sit at the higher end.

Can two cleaners come instead of one?+

For larger homes, yes, and it is often better — the same total hours are billed but the job finishes in half the time.
