Funded and insured work

DVA cleaning

Cleaning for veterans where the work is funded through an entitlement rather than paid directly. The referral route determines what we can accept and how the job is invoiced, so we check that first.

What DVA cleaning means in practice

For veterans, household cleaning is usually arranged through a referral or approval rather than booked directly, and the referral sets both the scope and the hours. Because that paperwork determines what we are able to accept, we check it before quoting anything — it avoids the situation where work gets done and then nobody can agree who is paying for it.

The cleaning is standard household work: kitchen, bathroom, floors, dusting, bins, and laundry help where that is part of the arrangement. What tends to matter more than the task list is how the visit runs. Same cleaner, a predictable day and time, a knock rather than a walk-in, and no expectation that the house be tidied before the cleaner arrives.

If something falls outside what the referral covers, we quote it at our standard published rates and you decide separately. Nothing extra is added to a funded invoice without being agreed first.

Checked against your referral first

We confirm what we can accept before a date is set. It avoids the situation where work gets done and then nobody can agree who is paying for it.

Funded and extra work invoiced separately

Anything outside the referral is quoted at our standard published rates and you decide on it separately. Nothing extra is added to a funded invoice without being agreed first.

A fixed day and a familiar face

The same cleaner, on the same day, at the same time. It is the arrangement least likely to be disrupted and the easiest to plan a week around.

What is included

What the cleaner actually does

Every visit works through the same tasks in the same order, so nothing is skipped because the clock ran out. This is the standard scope for DVA cleaning; anything beyond it is quoted before it is done.

  • Kitchen. Benches, sink, cooktop, splashback and appliance fronts cleaned, floor vacuumed and mopped, bin emptied and relined.

  • Bathroom and toilet. Shower and screen scrubbed, basin and taps descaled, mirror finished clear, toilet cleaned inside and out including behind the pan, floor mopped.

  • Floors through the house. Vacuuming through carpeted rooms and hallways, then mopping the hard floors. Rugs lifted and the floor underneath done where they are light enough to move safely.

  • Dusting and surfaces. Sills, ledges, shelves and reachable surfaces dusted, cobwebs removed from cornices, and door handles and light switches wiped.

  • Laundry help. A load washed, hung out and folded where that is within the arranged hours. Ironing is not part of a standard visit.

  • Bins out on the right night. Rubbish and recycling taken to the kerb on collection night, which is a small thing that turns out to matter a great deal when the bins are heavy.

  • Bed made and linen changed. Beds made each visit, and linen changed when fresh sheets are left out. Say so once and we will keep doing it on the same cycle.

  • A consistent cleaner. The same person on the run wherever availability allows, so you are not explaining the house to a stranger every fortnight.

Not part of a standard visit

  • Personal care, medication assistance or any clinical task
  • Home maintenance, repairs, gutter work or gardening
  • Deep cleaning, carpet steam cleaning or end-of-lease work unless separately arranged
  • Moving heavy furniture or appliances
  • Anything not covered by the referral, unless you have agreed to pay for it at our standard rates

Who this is for

  • Veterans with a referral or approval that covers household cleaning
  • Partners and family members arranging help on a veteran's behalf
  • Households that want a predictable day, time and cleaner rather than a roster
  • Anyone who wants the funded work and any extra work invoiced separately and clearly

How it is arranged

  1. 1Tell us which referral or approval you hold.
  2. 2We confirm what we can take on and what it covers.
  3. 3Anything outside that is quoted at our standard rates, so there is no confusion about who pays for what.

What we will ask you

  • Which referral or approval you hold, so we can confirm what we are able to accept
  • How many hours are approved, and how often
  • The suburb, so we can check we have a cleaner on that run
  • Whether any rooms are off limits or anything should not be moved
  • Whether anything outside the referral needs quoting separately

We do not publish a rate for this work, because the rate depends on the arrangement rather than on us. Tell us the details and we will confirm what we can take on before anything is booked.

Where to next

Three ways to take this further

The cleaning is the same work whoever is paying for it. These are the three things people usually need next.

What we commit to on every clean

  • $20M public liability

Carried on every clean, residential and commercial. Certificates of currency are available on request for building and strata managers.

  • Vetted and interviewed in person

Every cleaner is interviewed face to face before they are put on a run, not signed up through an app.

  • Free re-clean if it is not right

Tell us within 48 hours which areas fell short and we return and redo them at no charge, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

  • The same cleaner, and no lock-in

You keep your cleaner wherever availability allows. Recurring bookings run visit to visit — skip, change frequency or stop with reasonable notice.

  • A two-hour arrival window

Your cleaner confirms by SMS and email the day before with their name and your window, then again when they are on the way.

Questions

DVA cleaning questions we are asked most

If the answer you need is not here, ask us directly — we would rather answer it before a booking than after one.

What do you need from me before you can book anything?+

The referral or approval you hold, and the suburb. We check what we can accept against it and confirm before a date is set, so there is no work done in the hope it gets covered later.

Can my partner or family member organise this for me?+

Yes. We only need to know who is authorised to arrange, change or cancel visits so we are not taking instructions from the wrong person.

What if I want something done that the referral does not cover?+

We quote it at our standard published rates and you decide separately. It is never added to a funded invoice without being agreed first.

Do I have to tidy up before the cleaner arrives?+

No. Putting away anything valuable or private helps, but the cleaner is there to clean, not to inspect. Nobody is going to comment on the state of the house.

Will it be the same cleaner each time?+

Wherever availability allows, yes. If your usual cleaner cannot make a visit we tell you beforehand and you can accept the replacement or reschedule.

Can I have the same day and time every fortnight?+

Yes, and we recommend it. A fixed slot on a fixed day is easier to plan around and it is the arrangement least likely to be disrupted.

What people say about the cleaning itself

The arrangement differs by who is paying. The standard of the clean does not.
